Teran 2022 Champion and Highest Rated Teran at this year's Vinistra

Vinarija Fakin participated in the 29th International Wine and Winemaking Equipment Exhibition Vinistra in Poreč, the largest and oldest regional wine exhibition, featuring more than 100 exhibitors. This event is of great importance for the development, promotion, and improvement of the quality of Istrian wines, as well as for raising and spreading the general wine culture in Istria.

At the Vinistra awards ceremony, as part of the Wine and Strong Alcoholic Beverages Evaluation and the 14th World of Malvasia, Fakin Teran from the 2022 vintage won the champion title and, in the category of fresh and aged Terans, received an impressive 95 points and a platinum medal!

Teran is the most important native variety of red grapes in the Istrian region, known for its fearlessness and determination, combined with the finesse and elegance of its strong character. Its acidity and fine tannins provide balance, a long-lasting taste, and good harmony. This authentic Istrian wine blends tradition with a modern lifestyle, bold yet lively, simple yet sophisticated, with a character that delights anyone who tastes it.

In addition to winning its fourth champion title at Vinistra, Vinarija Fakin also received gold medals for Teran Il Primo 2019 (92 points), Teran Il Primo 2020 (91 points), Muscat 2022 (91 points), which was also the highest-rated yellow Muscat at Vinistra, Malvasia La Prima 2020 and 2021 (91 points), and Teran Il Primo from the Flaminio micro-location 2022 (90 points).

Visitors had the opportunity to enjoy the authentic and unique flavors of Fakin wines while learning more about the winery, vineyards, tradition and innovations in winemaking that make Fakin Winery a symbol of Istrian culture, unity, and love for wines. Fakin Winery was also part of an interesting and educational workshop called "5 for 5 Wine Studies," which presented the wine studies program of the University of Rijeka through 5 award-winning alumni students, including winemakers and oenologists who had won champion awards or platinum medals at the Vinistra 2023 evaluation.
